Frequently Asked Questions.

I hope you find the answer to your question here! If not, please email me at karen (at) drkmcb (dot) com or message me via my contact form.

What medium do you use?

My artworks tends to be water based mediums: acrylic paint, mixed media elements such as collage, water colour, pencil, graphite, pastel, and more. Further details are typically listed alongside each piece - including when poetry has been involved. All artworks are made with archival quality materials and sealed/varnished appropriately for longevity.

Are your paintings framed?

On a select few artworks I offer the option of framing. These pieces are typically those that were hung in gallery shows, which requires artwork to be framed.

However, I don’t typically offer framing. Indeed, framing can be an art in itself! Framing needs to account for the artwork itself, the preferences of the owner and the wall upon which the artwork will hang. To provide framing options that can accommodate those needs is a professional expertise in its own right - which is why I recommend working with a professional framer directly.

Note also that shipping framed artwork tends to mean increased shipping costs. If the frame includes glass, there is also an added risk of glass breakage during shipping.

All that said, I am here to help and welcome you to contact me for bespoke advice or any questions you have about framing.

Do you do commissions?

Currently I’m not taking on any new commissions. My current creative focus is on a new body of work. If you like my style then one of those may be the one for you!

Do you take international orders?

I do! But it is on a case by case basis, with the decision accounting for the location’s shipping time and other factors that COVID-19 and supply chain issues have impacted. Please visit my purchasing and shipping page to see more information specific to international orders.

Notice about colour accuracy

Every care has been taken to show the artwork as accurately as possible with regard to colour. The image you see online may show a difference due to slight variation between browsers, devices and screen settings. Any variation between the image represented and the actual artwork is not deemed a fault and slight inconsistencies will not be a valid reason for return.

Will my painting be ready to hang?

It depends on the artwork you purchased. Artworks on paper and wood panel require framing first, which will then make your art ready to hang. Artworks sold on stretched canvas can be prepared for you to hang with a cord, wire or hanging straps if you wish to hang them unframed - just let me know this is your preference when ordering.

Can I buy an artwork by instalment?

You can! A 50% deposit is payable to hold your painting. The balance can be paid the following month or in 2 monthly payments of 25% each. Please contact me if you are interested in arranging this.

This is not a credit scheme. I offer this as an arrangement built upon trust, at no extra cost to you. Usual shipping costs and return policy apply.

How do I pay you?

Upon receipt of your order with your delivery address, I generate an invoice for you. The invoice includes payment methods for you to choose from, including an online secure credit card option. See more info on my ordering and shipping page.
