This piece is another in my current work seeking to connect with my new home, Burleigh, Gold Coast Australia. I like to learn the stories of a place - including its history, its ecosystem, its people - and create images that reference those stories. Trees especially captivate me in each place I live. They are like a wise family member watching over, listening and keeping me grounded. In this painting, I reflect the joy of my friendship with this palm tree that greets me every morning while the sun rises over my neighbour’s roofs. This tree is my Burleigh companion.
