In years past, I spent many happy summers as a volunteer surf lifesaver at Burleigh Heads Mowbray Park. The recent results of wild weather eroding the coastline, leaving this lifeguard tower standing tall yet teetering on a newly-formed cliff edge, reminded me of how fragile our shorelines and oceans are. Palette 1 gave me freedom to simultaneously celebrate the local beaches while capturing the feeling of seeing them so visibly impacted.
